It has now been 4 week since I started my Hubpages account. If you haven't read my 1 week review (link), you should do so now. I wanted to make money, and I wanted to do it fast. Like I've explained in my last one, it has definitely been a reality check. It's interesting, because I thought I knew the ropes after one week, and I got kicked by reality yet again! It is worth re-mentioning that this community is really great, and with patience, comes money. Lots, and lots, of patience!

What I've learned

This is what I'd learned within 1 week:

Until Hubpages, I had no idea about search engine optimization (SEO), social bookmarking, increasing your presense, or even Google AdSense.  From what I've heard, I seem to have been very lucky thus far, as I've had a couple of >$1 clicks, while this could easily have been $0.01 clicks, it's just luck of the draw.  I've also learned not to visit your own hubs unless it's to edit them or deal with comments, as you increase your pageviews, and end up confusing yourself.  See if you can spot the day I visited my hubs a lot?

Now, after four, I realize that I was in for an even bigger surprise.  It turns out that if you are publishing hubs, you are skewing your data!  What I mean is that the stats surrounding publication days are completely unlike those when you aren't publishing.  There was a period in which I published heavily, and thought that I was going to make a killing!  Now I understand that it really is a slow growth profit venture, and you can either write a few niche articles, or many general ones, but either way you need to give things time!

The Future

What I wrote last time:

While I'm riding this high, I'm going to post again in another week (or after a month, not sure).  I think that my experiences will most likely prove to be useful to others, as well as an eye-opener for myself.  To learn is to grow, and hopefully I'll look back on this with a face-palm!

Haha!  Do I ever know what a sucker I am!  I have been completely schooled by the system, and will most likely see this happen again when I post on my 3 months statistics.  Either way, Hubscores grow with views, and with time.  If you don't give them time, they don't grow, and if they don't grow, they don't list as high on sites like Google or Hubpages, and therefore you don't get the views.  The entire process is recursive.  All I can say is that this really works, but patience is the key to a full wallet!

GOOD LUCK!
